A Smarter Way to Cover UK Contractors - Consilium’s New Casualty Binder

Jul 25

Speed. Service. Simplicity. It doesn’t need to be complicated, but these are not always the words that come to mind when you think about Casualty cover for contractors. That is where Consilium comes in.

We are excited to launch a new in-house Casualty binder, developed specifically for UK-based contractors and underwritten directly by our Risk Solutions team. At the heart of it is Luke Browne, who joins Consilium with over a decade of experience underwriting Liability and Contractors’ All Risks.

Luke has worked across a wide range of trades and risk profiles, with a focus on delivering cover that responds when it matters. He joins Consilium with a clear mission, to bring something better to the broker experience in wordings, turnaround times and the way partnerships are built.

A New Chapter in Casualty Cover

Our in-house Casualty binder gives our team the authority to underwrite UK Contractor Casualty risks including Employers’, Public and Products Liability, Pollution Liability and Excess of Loss (up to £25m) cover directly. That means:

  • Faster service and turnaround times

  • Broader wordings to include valuable extensions, not typically found in standard Lloyd’s wordings, such as:

  • Working at height, depth or high heat exposure

  • Efficacy

  • Goods on Hook

  • Rip and Tear

  • Defective Workmanship

  • Backed by A-rated capacity

We are already exploring ways to extend the facility further, including adding Contract Works and other specialist lines in future phases.

Claims That Work Harder

As with all things Consilium, the Claims experience is key. And, in a market where claims service is often frustratingly poor, our team is doing things differently. Matt Pini, Managing Partner at Consilium Risk Solutions, said;

“Our in-house Claims team will inject much-needed service to the market with a focus on delivering better outcomes for both brokers and contractors they serve.”

Our new facility is tailored to suit a wide range of SME contractor trades, including:

  • Groundworks and Civil Engineering

  • Builders and Allied Trades, including:

  • Plastering

  • Carpenters and Joiners

  • Bricklayers

  • Painters and Decorators

  • Electricians

  • Shop and Office Fitters

  • Landscapers

  • Data Cabling

  • Commercial Glazing and Curtain Walling

  • Insulation Contractors

  • Solar Panel Installations

With a minimum premium of £2,000, the binder is specifically designed for low to medium risk UK contractors and, if a trade should fall outside the scope, we have alternative markets available.

A Better Way Forward

For too long, placing liability cover for contractors has meant jumping through hoops for wordings that do not reflect the realities of the job. This new binder strips out those limitations and replaces them with something better, faster, broader and more responsive, while providing real-time access to a team that gets it.

Exclusive to Consilium and led by an expert, our new Casualty binder offers a smarter and more effective way to cover contractors. So, if you are placing contractor liability risks and you are ready for a better way, get in touch today and see how we can help.
