Consilium Lands in Luxembourg: Strengthening Our Presence in Mainland Europe’s Financial Heart
You can serve some markets from a distance, but Luxembourg is not one of them. It is a market built on relationships, shaped by regulation and driven by one of the most sophisticated financial ecosystems in the world. In Luxembourg, presence matters more than proximity.

We are thrilled to announce that Consilium is now live in Luxembourg, with the opening of our new office, as we extend our Professional and Executive Risk Solutions capability into one of the most important financial centres in the world.
A Natural Next Step
With over EUR 8 trillion in assets under management and a position as the second largest funds market in the world, Luxembourg plays a central role in the global financial system. From fund structures and SPVs to captives and alternative risk vehicles, the market is both vast and highly specialised.
It is also deeply local. In Luxembourg, access is built on trust. Conversations often happen face to face and understanding the regulatory and commercial landscape is essential. For Consilium, establishing a presence here is a natural progression.
Already operating across London, the Channel Islands and the Cayman Islands, our Professional and Executive Risks Solutions team has built a reputation for handling complex financial lines and fund-related risks with precision. Luxembourg strengthens that platform, connecting our global capabilities with local insight in a way that simply cannot be replicated remotely.
Nick Bachmann, Managing Partner within the Professional and Executive Risk Solutions team, said:
“Luxembourg has long been a strategic target for us. We have a proven model in other financial hubs, delivering a differentiated proposition that combines on-the-ground, local advisory-led support with access to one of the most experienced financial lines broking teams in the world.”

Introducing Wim Geleyn
Leading our Luxembourg office is someone who understands exactly how this market works. Wim Geleyn joins Consilium as General Manager of our Luxembourg branch, bringing almost 30 years of experience across insurance broking, underwriting, law and financial services.
His international perspective, shaped by time spent living and working across Europe, Africa and beyond, is matched by his thorough understanding of Luxembourg’s unique market dynamics. From regulatory frameworks to fund structures and local business culture, Wim brings the kind of insight that only comes from being embedded in the environment itself.
His expertise spans:
Financial Institutions and Funds
D&O and broader Financial Lines
Captives and alternative risk transfer
Infrastructure and private equity
ESG-driven investments, including renewable energy, water and carbon projects
Academically, Wim combines a legal background specialising in banking law with a postgraduate qualification in corporate finance - a blend that reflects the technical and commercial demands of the clients he supports.
Just as importantly, Wim brings an established network and the credibility to open doors in a market where relationships are key. Of his appointment, Nick commented, “Wim brings extensive local and international expertise which he will use to build relationships, unlock market access and meet strong demand for high quality D&O, financial lines and complex risk solutions, backed by A rated capacity and technology driven innovation.”
Closer to the Market
Being on the ground changes the dynamic. It allows us to move faster, respond more directly and build stronger, more meaningful relationships with clients and partners. It also ensures our solutions reflect both our global access and a genuine understanding of what is unique to each local market.
From Luxembourg, we connect clients seamlessly to:
European insurance markets
Lloyd's and the wider London market
Specialist global capacity for complex risks
The combination of local presence with global reach is where Consilium is at its strongest.
An Opportunity to do Things Differently
Luxembourg’s financial ecosystem is sophisticated, but that does not mean every risk is fully understood. In areas such as D&O, many clients - particularly independent directors - are still navigating complex cover decisions without always having full clarity on what their policies truly deliver. Too often, price ends up shaping the decision instead of the level of protection. That is where a more advisory‑led approach really makes a difference.
With Wim leading locally, we have a clear opportunity to bring a more informed, structured and outcome focused approach to financial layers, helping clients understand their exposure properly and secure cover that performs when they need it.
Consilium is now part of the Luxembourg market with a local presence committed to building long term relationships and delivering specialist support. Backed by the strength of our global platform, we are ready to start new conversations.
If you are operating in Luxembourg’s financial ecosystem and want to explore how Consilium can support your risk strategy, connect with Wim directly or get in touch with the team today.
